Interactive Forum to explore options for reducing health inequities through action on the social determinants

The Regional Forum has been designed to create a space for regional stakeholders to share and debate their views and experiences of working in this area, ensure that the sub national and local level perspective is incorporated into the assessment options for scaling up policy approaches, and to reflect upon and respond to the views as expressed on national level.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The event brought together public health practitioners from regional and national level, primary care representatives, policy makers from within and across health sectors, including social protection, economics, tourism and agriculture, and other regional and local stakeholders active in this field.

WORKING STYLE AND LANGUAGE

The Forum used a range of methods including short presentations, focus groups discussions, and panel sessions. These are highly participatory in nature and has been facilitated by an independent external team convened by the World Health Organisation (WHO) at the request of the Ministry of Health. There was also an open debriefing session where participants have been asked to react to the findings of the external mission team, which has been presented to the audience in a final session.
